These are fixed prostheses for teeth. Unlike removable devices such as dentures, which you can take out and clean daily, crowns and bridges are cemented onto existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by a dentist.
DENTAL BRIDGES:
If you are missing one or more teeth, it can be replaced by a bridges. It is necessary to replace missing teeth as the gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and joint ( temporomandibular – TMJ) disorders

We recommend crown in following conditions:
- Cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment
- Replace a large filling when there isn't enough tooth remaining
- Restore a fractured tooth
- Cover a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth
The procedure of making crowns and bridges requires minimum two visits.
1. During the FIRST VISIT, we assess the health of your teeth. In case of crowns the tooth receiving the crown is shaped. In case of bridges the supporting teeth are shaped. The tooth color is recorded to match the correct colour of porcelain. Impressions are taken of the prepared teeth and the teeth of the opposite jaw. A temporary bridge or crown may be fixed to protect the prepared teeth between visits. You are instructed to avoid sticky food.
2. During the SECOND VISIT: After removing temporary crown/bridge, the permanent crown or bridge is checked for colour and fit. Next, it is permanently fixed in place with special cements
Dental Crowns:
A crown is used to entirely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function.
MATERIALS
Types of CROWN/BRIDGE
1. METAL FREE
There are various choices of materials for bridges. You have them in either metal, metal in overlaid ceramic (porcelain fused to metal) or the latest metal free (all ceramic) crowns.

EMAX- Ivoclar Vivadent At DentaSculpt Dental Clinic, E MAX CROWN is our choice of material in COSMETIC region. It is the best restoration for front teeth. It is the only bonded crown/bridge material as compared to mostly cemented zirconia crowns/bridges. Also known as ALL PORCELAIN CROWNS, It is considered to be the best possible match with your own natural teeth. The lifelike shape and matched colour ensures that it is unlikely to be noticed amongst your own natural teeth. This crown does not contain metal base which means no unsightly looking GRAY LINE around the gum line(Common in metal ceramic crowns). They are strong, long lasting and unlikely to crack or fracture as compared to many other types of crowns. They are considered to be at less risk of chipping compared to PFM crowns.
3M LAVA - A lava crown is one of the strongest metal free crowns available in the world. It provide excellent aesthetics and translucency besides an outstanding fit. Also each lava restoration comes with an authentication label with a unique barcode. Using the special barcoded labels, one can verify the authenticity of genuine lava on the 3M global website.
HIGH STRENGTH ZIRCON-BRUXZIR/CERCON/ZENOSTAR
BruxZir® Solid Zirconia crown/bridge is a monolithic zirconia restoration. It is a good alternative metal free restoration for posterior metal occlusal PFMs for special situations like bruxers (patient having teeth clenching habit), implant restorations and areas with limited occlusal space. Made using CAD/CAM technology, BruxZir Solid Zirconia is heated at high temperature to achieve strength. The final BruxZir crown or bridge is then glazed to a smooth surface.

2. CERAMIC (PORCELAIN FUSED TO METAL- PFM)
These crowns have a metal fused (covered) with ceramic. PFM's came closer to the look of real teeth and also provided good strength, durability and fit. Major drawback of these crowns however could be a GREY LINE seen along the border of the crown in few cases. On the other hand in metal free ceramic crowns, the metallic look and the black lines disappear. They are not only highly aesthetic but also offer high strength restorations to dental industry
3. METAL
Metal crowns are budget option for functional crown or bridge. Having bad aesthetic value, these are less preferred crown at DentasCulpt Dental Clinic.
