Broken teeth repair

Teeth, though having strong structure, can chip, crack (fracture) or break. This can happen in several ways:

  • Biting on something hard
  • Being hit in the face or mouth
  • Falling
  • Having cavities
  • Having large, old fillings that don not support the remaining enamel of the tooth

When a tooth breaks, it may not hurt. However, your tongue usually feels the sharp area quite quickly. Minor tooth fractures usually don't cause pain, but if a large piece of the tooth breaks off, it can hurt. The nerves of the tooth may be damaged. Pain or extreme sensitivity occurs When nerve endings are exposed to air, or to hot or cold foods or drinks.

Pain from a broken or cracked tooth may be continuous or intermittent. Many patients feel pain when they chew because chewing puts pressure on the tooth.

TREATMENT OF BROKEN TEETH

Broken teeth can be restored again cosmetically and functionally with various types of dental materials , which helps the tooth to regain its original strength and function as before, along with improvement in its appearance.

There are four procedures that can repair your cracked or broken tooth

We will determine which of the following treatments is best for you and your mouth.

Composite bonding is one of the way to repair chippe or cracked. During the procedure, anesthesia will not be required unless bonding is being used for cavities.

Veneers are thin shell of porcelain which the most attractive and realistic results possible.

The veneer is bonded to the front of the tooth, transforming the appearance of tooth. With good care, veneers can last very long, so you will not have to worry about getting it replaced regularly.

You can have veneers placed on one tooth or a few. And it is up to you how you want your veneer to look. This cosmetic treatment is truly a wonderful option for many people.

If your tooth is fractured badly or you have pain when chewing or drinking, you may need a crown. Crowns are one of the most common restorative treatments for fractured tooth.

A crown is a, also known as cap, covers the tooth and protects in and approves the appearance. It acts as a strong covering for your tooth. When you get a crown, this prevents you from losing your tooth.

At DentaSculpt Dental Clinic, we use crowns created from tooth-colored porcelain or zirconia to create a natural, uniform look. Our crowns are created for each patient and made to match your tooth perfectly.

If the crack in your tooth has extended into the nerves, the tooth can be treated with a root canal treatment. After the root canal, a crown can be placed.

A Root canal treatment involves clearing out the decayed tooth substance and removing the nerve. The root canal treatment is carried out under effect of local anesthesia, so it is not painful.

You may need a root canal if you have toothache, sensitivity, or swelling, after a tooth is chipped. if left untreated, infection can spread, causing abscess, bone loss, and other serious problems.
